Day 3 Dallas to Memphis TN - 460 Miles

Hey everybody,
today was also another relaxing day. Now we have most of the distance behind us.After the meeting with the JCC this morning we drove to down town Dallas visited the JFK Memorial and then started driving towards Memphis on I 30 East. It is 200 miles from Dallas to the border of Arkansas - and it is actually a very nice drive through  Texas with big horse farms  with very nice "farm houses" on both sides of the highway. The drive on I 30 through Arkansas was kind of uneventful - a lot of forest  and a small town every 30 - 40 miles until we got to Little Rock. After driving to more or less through forest for more than 150 miles we got to Little Rock.  Surprisingly nice place - downtown with high rise buildings, big river running through the city surrounded by hills.
After Little Rock we had another 100 miles left to get to Memphis  - since it was the shortest day of the year it was already dark before we got the Memphis - after checking into the hotel we went to a Barbecue place, recommended by the guy I had the meeting this morning.  It was excellent - barbecue ribs and pork. We are going to spend the morning visiting down town and see the original Sun Records Studio and if we have time left visiting Graceland. More about this tomorrow.

Day 2 - Albuquerque to Dallas 680 Miles

Hi everybody,
today was a "relaxing day", nice drive from Albuquerque, NM to Dallas, TX. We left at 7 AM this morning after a nice breakfast towards the border of Texas via I 70.  There was not much going on after we left Albuquerque behind. It got very flat after 2 hours and stayed this way for a very long time. In Amarillo we took the HWY 287 towards Wichita Falls and then Dallas.
All farm land with a lot of cows and some oil towers. The drive on the 287 was actually very interesting because every time we got into a town the highway changed to a regular street and we had to drive to "down town" until we got to the end and then it became a highway again. Some of this towns had only 150 to 300 people living there and they didn't look nice - sort of depressing.
After 8 1/2 hours we arrived in Dallas and traffic was crazy - checked in to the hotel and we will get some dinner. Tomorrow morning I have a business metting with the Dallas Jewish Community Center and after we are on the way to Memphis (Elvis......).

Day 1 Los Angeles to Albuquerque- 760 miles

Hi everyone,
today was our first day on the road. We started in Los Angeles, Ca and we are now writing this message to you from the Hampton inn in Albuquerque, Nm. Today was a long day, waking up at 3am and then starting our trip at 4 am. Leaving Los Angeles we ran into really hard rain and foggy weather. That continued until we reached the I-15 going through Cajon Pass going up to Victorville. There the fog was very dense and we could literaly only see 5 feet when we drove. We then reached the 1-40 which is the road we will use for 1,000 miles! We drove I-40 into Arizona through Kingman, Flagstaf (entrance to Grand Canyon), eventually reaching Albuquerque our first stop.
